That First Look At Young Han Solo Actually Wasn’t From Lucasfilm

Yesterday, an image of what was said to be Star Wars fans' first look at Alden Ehrenreich as the frachise's new young Han Solo began circulating the internet, hyping up the community for Lucasfilm's upcoming spinoff movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story

However, what was supposed to be fan's first look at Star Wars' new young scruffy nerf-herder turns out to be an unofficial edit which Lucasfilm had nothing to do with.

According to a report by Comicbook, the image of Ehrenreich in Harkin Theater's Loyalty Cup in Arizona wasn't commissioned by Lucasfilm, nor was it based off any image or artwork taken from the Solo spinoff.

Every year Harkins Theaters in Arizona offers theater guests with a new Loyalty cup, and each year the design changes to feature the different characters in upcoming film releases. This year, Harkins Theaters had decided to commission a local marketing company that was working with artist Landon Armstrong, to create was mistakenly believed to be "fan's first look at Ehrenreich's Han Solo."

Using the face of Ehrenreich in the old cast photo that was released during the production of the spinoff when Phil Lord and Chris Miller were still around as the director's of Solo, the artist added in an older photo of Harrison Ford in his Empire Strikes Back outfit. The product of the mix was an idealized version of what Ehrenreich might look like as Han Solo.

Guess Star Wars fans just can't believe every first look photo that goes around the internet.

Solo: A Star Wars Story premieres May 25, 2018.
