Recently a campaign was launched to give terminally ill Star Wars fan Neil Hanvey a chance to see the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story early. The campaign recently recieved support from Mark Hamill himself. Well, Hanvey's wish has been granted now, as a Facebook Post from St. Micheal's Hospice shows:
St. Micheal's Hospice is where Harvey is currently staying. He was told back in April that he only has six to eight months to live. Amy Duncan, a health care assistant at the hospice, teamed up with Hanvey's wife, Andrea, to campaign for him to see the movie early.
The campaign used the hashtag #RogueOneWish. Many fans and celebrities came out in support for the campaign. Paul Davis, the mountain bike manager for the 2016 Olympics, retweeted a video supporting the campaign. Amy Duncan reported that Industrial Light and Magic, the special effects company behind Star Wars.
It's comforting to know that Hanvey got his wish. The 36-year-old has reportedly been a Star Wars fan his whole life. A model of the Millenium Falcon is the first gift he remembers recieving from his parents.
Star Wars fans held a similarly successful campaign for Daniel Fleetham. The terminally ill fan got to see a screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens before passing away.
