Patty Jenkins Honored By Wonder Woman’s Oscar Buzz

Wonder Woman's getting a lot of Oscar Buzz ahead of the announcement of this year's Academy Awards nominations, and Patty Jenkins feels nothing but honor that her film is being acknowledged by other award-giving bodies.

Sitting down with Vanity Fair, Jenkins discusses Wonder Woman's odds at an Oscar nomination during this year's Academy Awards. The director's comic book movie may have enjoyed a wave of positive reviews from critics, however, it seems like Jenkins isn't expecting too much recognition from the Academy Award given the fact that comic book movies don't usually win major awards at the Oscars.

"I know that superhero movies have had a very hard time. I know that women directors have had a very hard time being acknowledged. I know that superhero lead actors don't get acknowledged. It is what it is . . . So to have my peers acknowledge [Wonder Woman] in this way and celebrate it in this way is a huge honor."

Wonder Woman has been doing well though. Though the comic book movie was snubbed at the Golden Globes, other award-giving bodies have recognized the film. The Producers Guild of America nominated the DCEU standalone movie for Best Film of 2017, and the American Film Institute listed the movie down in its Top Ten Films of the year.

We wonder whether Wonder Woman will get a small nod at this year's Oscars.

Wonder Woman 2 is set for release on November 1, 2019.
