Zachary Levi: Shazam! Is Superman Meets Big

With the DCEU more on the glum side of movies, Warner Bros looks to shake things up with the formula for 2019. Shazam! looks to be an attempt at a more light-hearted superhero movie, and star Zachary Levi compares it to the classic Tom Hanks comedy Big.

Talking to ET, Levi describes Shazam!:

"I can't tell you much, as you can probably imagine, but what I can say is I am just out of my mind excited!... I get to do my version of Big, basically. It's like Superman meets Big, and that's just so fun."

To those who don't know, the movie Big is a story of a young boy who makes a wish to be "big." When he wakes up in the morning, he discovers that he's become a grown-up Tom Hanks while still retaining the mind of a boy; it's pretty much like what we can expect from Shazam! Captain Marvel will be a young boy (Billy Batson) in an adult body—only we get to see him fight crime instead of dancing on a giant piano.

After the disappointment that was Justice League, Warner Bros seems to be making big changes in order to get the DCEU in line. For one, the only movie set to come out this year is Aquaman; hopefully 2019 will see the DCEU make a comeback without giving us any superhero fatigue.

For now, we should expect Shazam! to hit theaters April of 2019.
