Star Wars Series The Mandalorian Timeline Possibly Confirmed

Jon Favreau's new Star Wars series is still shrouded in mystery. However, new details about The Mandalorian may have been revealed and it could confirm the show's timeline.

According to The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit, his sources have given him an idea of what will happen in The Mandalorian. Take a look at the tweet below.

"Sources tell me the story is set about 5 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and is set in the Outer Rim, where people don't know and don't care that the Empire has fallen. Gives them latitude in telling certain stories," Kit wrote.

This is certainly interesting news. Although there have been hints that the series will take place after the events in Return of the Jedi, fans have been expecting the Empire to be part of the main storyline. After all, one of the first images from The Mandalorian featured a couple of Stormtroopers.

The Empire might still have a part in the new series. However, it is great to know that The Mandalorian will focus solely on new characters who may not have ties to the original Star Wars trilogy. We could still expect a few references and Easter eggs but the storyline could be completely new.

The series will star Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, and Werner Herzog. The show's pilot episode will be directed by Star Wars: The Clone Wars executive producer Dave Filoni while Bryce Dallas-Howard, Taika Waititi, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa have also signed on to direct the other episodes.

The Mandalorian is expected to air on Disney+ in late 2019.
