Lucasfilm Debunks Rumors That Kathleen Kennedy Would Be Replaced By Marvel’s Kevin Feige

Star Wars: The Last Jedi's divisiveness and the disappointing performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story might have led some to believe that big shake-ups are on the way for Lucasfilm, however, rumors that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige would be replacing Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy are not at all true.

Though Feige has expressed enthusiasm over the Star Wars franchise before, Deadline writes that the rumor saying that the Marvel President would take over Kennedy as Lucasfilm's head honcho has been denied by Lucasfilm time and time again.

The rumor first came from industry newsletter Ankler (via ComicBook.com). The report claimed that while Kennedy worked wonders in bringing Star Wars back to life after the prequel series, "there has been more than some thought that it's time for new blood at the helm."

According to the publication, there's been talk of some "changing of the guards" in September this year –a few months after Star Wars: Episode IX begins production.

Despite these rumors regarding the shake-up, Lucasfilm has a lot of new projects lined up after Episode IX next year. Not only does the franchise have Obi-Wan and Boba Fett spinoffs set, it also has a new trilogy by The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and a new set of films by Game of Thrones co-creators D.B. Weiss and Dave Benioff. Jon Favreau is also working on a live-action Star Wars series for Disney's streaming service.

With so many projects lined up, it's hard to imagine Lucasfilm switching presidents right now. Let's just wait and see what happens as we go along.

Lucasfilm's latest film, Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently screening in cinemas.
