Kevin Feige Talks About The Possibility Of Marvel Having Its Own Convention

It looks like Marvel Studios is thinking of holding its own convention.

While Star Wars has its yearly Star Wars Celebration and Disney has its D23, Marvel is still to organize a convention that focuses solely on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Marvel brand. Now, speaking in an interview with Fandango, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige opens up about his thoughts on the possibility of having a Marvel convention.

"Over the years there have been discussions about that," the Marvel bigwig told the publication, "I think what we try to do occasionally in San Diego we're very proud of and think is a fun tradition. That being said, I think [Star Wars] Celebration is pretty amazing. I've been to a few Celebrations and the idea of doing something like that ... I think we have enough content, and enough fans, and enough ideas that we could easily do something like that, I'm just not sure where or when."

It's interesting that Marvel is thinking about organizing its own convention. Sure, Marvel might have attended this year's San Diego Comic-Con, bringing with it panels and discussions on Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok, but it seems like the studio's presence at the convention has lessened as of late.

The studio could have also promoted its other projects, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and home releases for Spider-Man: Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. But instead, the studio decided to update fans on only two films.

Would the studio benefit from making its own convention? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Marvel's next film, Thor: Ragnarok, premieres on November 3, 2017.
