The Batman: Vanessa Hudgens Reportedly In The Running For Catwoman Role

Vanessa Hudgens will reportedly be the Catwoman to Robert Pattinson's Batman.

According to folks over at The BYO Show, the High School Musical alum's name has been put on the table for the role of Selina Kyle. They did not provide any other details although they did note that it hasn't been confirmed yet, it is a high possibility.

The involvement of Hudgens in The Batman was something the YouTuber has heard from his sources since January along with information about Pattinson getting picked as Batman. However, with the Twilight star not officially announced as Ben Affleck's successor, it is hard to say for sure at this time.

It has been rumored in the past, however, that Catwoman will be part of the villain lineup in The Batman. Reeves is said to include six baddies from the Caped Crusader's rogues gallery in the film.

Hudgens is best known for her role as Gabriella Hudgens in High School Musical, which is her version of Twilight. Ever since the franchise, she has starred in a number of films including Sucker Punch, which was directed by Zack Snyder. But much like Pattinson, her stint in the Disney trilogy is still what a lot of fans remember her from.

Hudgens was recently in a short-lived DC Comics series called Powerless, where she played the role of Emily Locke. The actress also co-starred with Mads Mikkelsen in the movie adaptation of the neo-noir action crime webcomic series Polar, which came out last January. She was also the lead in the Netflix Christmas film The Princess Switch released last year.

The last actress to play a live-action Catwoman in the big screen is Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises. In fact, it is looking like Reeves might borrow a lot of elements from the Christopher Nolan trilogy for The Batman with reports suggesting that Scarecrow and Bane will also be making an appearance in the first solo outing of the comic book icon for the new era of DC Comics films by Warner Bros. In the small screen, Selina Kyle was played by Camren Bicondova in the series Gotham.

At the moment, nothing has been confirmed yet. Hudgens' Catwoman gig doesn't seem to hold as much weight as Pattinson's Batman casting, so fans should take this report with a grain of salt until definite news comes to light.
