After months of waiting, fans of action movies will be happy to know that John Wick: Chapter Three finally has a release date. The third installment in the popular series will be released on May 17, 2019, the first John Wick summer release. It faces some heavy competition, but given the success of the previous films, it does stand a fair chance.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the summer release, while also pointing out that the amount of competition it will face. Disney will be having a heavy presence, with the unnamed Avengers 4 and the live-action Aladdin movie. Still, considering how fun and well-made the first two films were, this should be able to find a decent audience based on reputation alone.
In the end of John Wick: Chapter Two, the lead character was banned from the assassin association he was a part of and is now a target for pretty much everyone in that organization. Expect John Wick: Chapter Three to deal with the fallout of that cliffhanger, hopefully with plenty of awesome fight scenes and world building the first two installments were known for.
How will John Wick: Chapter Three fair against some of Disney's heavy hitters? We'll find out in two years. As long as the film delivers on its action and unique setting, it should do well enough.
