Magic: The Gathering Head Designer Restates His Comments About Planeswalker Situation in Throne of Eldraine

Wizards of the Coast has already officially revealed two Planeswalker cards from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering expansion Throne of Eldraine: Oko and Garruk, and MTG head designer Mark Rosewater previously confirmed that Rowan and Will Kenrith, the twin planeswalkers introduced in last year's Two-Headed Giant-focused product, Battlebond, will be featured in Throne of Eldraine as well. However, Rosewater also confirmed in July that there will only be three Planeswalker cards in the upcoming fairy tale-themed expansion, so with Oko, Garruk, and the Kenrith twins featured in the set, fans are still wondering if that's true. Now, Rosewater is reinstating his comments concerning the planeswalker situation.

On his Blogatog, Rosewater said that everything he said about the planeswalkers in Throne of Eldraine were true, re-confirming that there are three Planeswalker cards, and that all the planeswalker characters he mentioned are featured in the set.

"I never said that. I said Rowan, Will and a third planeswalker were all in the set and that the set had three planeswalker cards," Rosewater explained "All of that is true."

Since we've already seen the cards for Garruk and Oko, Roseweater's statement could only mean one thing: Will and Rowan Kenrith will be featured in one card. This makes sense since the Kenrith twins share a spark, as Rosewater revealed last month.

We'll have to wait and see what the Rowan & Will Kenrith card will be but we already know that it will not be a double-faced card since Rosewater also confirmed that the set won't have any double-faced cards.

Throne of Eldraine, the 82nd Magic expansion, is set to release on October 4. Prerelease events will take place on September 27 to 29.
