Magic: The Gathering Head Designer Confirms The Number of Planeswalkers in Modern Horizons

Modern Horizons, this year's innovative Magic: The Gathering set, will be released next month, and today, MTG Head Designer Mark Rosewater has confirmed the number of Planeswalker cards in the set.

Over on his Blogatog, Rosewater said, "Modern Horizons has two planeswalkers. One is Serra and the other is… not Serra."

We already know one of them: Serra the Benevolent.

This card was revealed when Modern Horizons was first announced back in February, so that leaves just one Planeswalker card that Wizards of the Coast haven't revealed yet. Maybe a new Garruk? Hopefully, it's not another Gatewatch member.

Wizards of the Coast have only revealed two cards from the set but since the set is coming out next month, the official previews are expected to begin in a few weeks.

Rosewater previously confirmed that the number of mechanics in Modern Horizons will be in double digits.

The upcoming set will feature reprints that are not-yet Modern legal and new cards that will be legal in the Modern format but not in Standard.

Modern Horizons will be released on June 14. Prerelease events will take place on June 8 and 9. The prerelease events will be Draft, not Sealed. Previews will begin at the end of May. The War of the Spark card set will be released on May 3, 2019. It's already available in digital version on Magic Arena.
