First New Mutants Trailer Embraces Horror To It's Fullest

Fox finally released the first trailer to April's New Mutants and it definitely embraced the horror elements everyone has been hyping up. While we don't get to see too many powers involved, everything related to horror was done in an effective manner. It seems like Fox has definitely embraced the fact that they aren't making standard superhero movies and this new trailer shows that isn't a bad thing.

Starting out in a psych ward where some of the New Mutants are being interrogated, the trailer slowly but surely gets madder by the second. From a burning hand in a washing machine (is that you Sunspot?) to the walls coming to life and closing in on our characters, this is not your typical X-Men movie that's for sure.

It also does an effective job as a trailer since it gives fans intriguing imagery without spoiling the plot, whatever that turns out to be. Some of the trippy visuals might remind fans of Legion and it does a good job at not giving everything away. Here is hoping Fox doesn't go trailer crazy with this film like Marvel and DC have with Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League.

New Mutants hits theaters on April 13, 2018. The film is directed by Josh Boone and stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Alice Braga, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, and Blu Hunt.
