Spider-Man PS4 Actor ‘Apologizes’ for Peter Parker Change

Insomniac had just announced their remaster of Spider-Man for the PS5, and though things are looking good for the gameplay overall, a lot of fans are complaining about the remodeling of Peter Parker's face from John Bubniak to new actor Ben Gordon (who looks a lot like Tom Holland) . With a lot of people wanting to #BringBackBubniak for the remaster, Spider-Man's actual actor Yuri Lowenthal has come out on Twitter to ‘apologize' for the change.

Here's Lowenthal's post:

According to the PlayStation Blog, the change was actually made so as not to make Peter look like Tom Holland, but rather Lowenthal himself. Insomniac community director James Stevenson had written:

"In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel's Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal's facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri's moving performances take on a new life."

Personally, I actually like the new face. I always thought that the original PS4 face was kind of off, and looking at it now, it doesn't even look exactly like Bubniak. With a lot of fans liking that Peter Parker though, I'm wondering if Insomniac is going to give them the option to opt to keep Peter's original face in the remaster. Maybe it could be a skin? Just something to keep the fans satiated.

We don't know if #BringBackBubniak will happen, but for now, Spider-Man Remastered is set to launch alongside Spider-Man: Miles Morales on Nov. 12.
