Solo: A Star Wars Story Did Way Better with Blu-Ray Sales

When Solo: A Star Wars Story came out last May, headlines were going everywhere on how the movie had underperformed and how it has caused Lucasfilm to reconsider their direction on anthology movies. However, poor numbers don't mean that the movie was bad at all. In fact, ever since the home release, a lot of fans have admitted that the movie is actually pretty good; so good that the Blu-Ray sales have actually come out impressive.

According to GeekFurious on Twitter:

Of course, this doesn't confirm any change of Lucasfilm's plans moving forward. We still don't know if a sequel for Solo will be in the works. It's just a glimmer of hope for fans who have been wanting to #MakeSolo2Happen. A lot of movies that have failed in the box office have earned themselves sequels after successful home releases; granted it may take a few years for any studio to start moving forward with the follow-up.

A lot of analysis has come out online on why Solo wasn't the success everyone was hoping it would be. As it turns out, the movie was actually pretty well received. The failure came to the marketing, what with Disney focusing all their energy on the release of Infinity War and not giving Solo the same marketing push that previous Star Wars films have had since The Force Awakens.

Will Solo 2 happen? I guess all we can do is wait. With Blu-Ray sales proving to be a great success, Lucasfilm may reconsider putting their anthology movies on hold in the long run.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is now available on Blu-Ray and digital.
