X-Men '97 actor JP Karliak opened up about his excitement over the long-awaited debut of the mutants in the MCU.

Following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, fans have been looking forward to the introduction of the mutants in the MCU and finally sharing the same universe with the other Marvel characters.

While Deadpool and Wolverine will feature the return of the X-Men characters from the Fox franchise, the MCU iteration is not expected to be formally introduced very soon although they have teased their impending arrival in recent projects.

Speaking with Epicstream, Karliak offered his insight on the highly-anticipated debut of the mutants in the MCU.

The Morph voice actor expressed his excitement and curiosity about how Marvel Studios will integrate the mutants into the MCU.

"This feels like such a big lift because we haven't had any mutants, really. I mean, we had trickles like Kamala Khan is apparently a mutant and in The Marvels like the Beast showed up in the end because [Monica Rambeau] went to the multiverse so there are trickles and bits," he said.

"It's gonna be interesting to see how they pull everything in. Are we leaving the universe that we know? Are we going to stay in the multiverse? I don't know."

Karliak continued, "I'm just so intrigued to see how they pull it off. That's the fascinating thing. The MCU is the longest continuous story that's ever been told in film in terms of interconnectivity so it's always just so neat for me to see."

It is certainly exciting to see how the mutants' debut will play out given the complexity of their lore in the Marvel Universe and there is a lot of work needed to make sure that their integration will be seamless.

Perhaps fans will be getting an idea once the plans are clear in the next few years as they explore the Multiverse Saga even further and show us how they'll mix in all the Marvel properties under one roof.

For now, fans are getting their mutant fix with X-Men '97, the first Marvel Studios-produced project featuring the X-Men.

New episodes of X-Men '97 premiere every Wednesday on Disney+.
