Warner Bros. Originally Planned A Cinematic Release For Batman V Superman’s Ultimate Edition

Warner Bros. theatrical cut of Zack Snyder's divisive Batman V Superman may have left audiences a little bit lost and confused, however the Ultimate Edition of the film managed to help sort things out, giving fans a longer and more comprehensive story that properly detailed the prejudice the Dark Knight (Ben Affleck) and the Man of Steel (Henry Cavill) held for one another.

Now, it seems like a leaked IMAX scene taken from the superhero smash-down suggests that Warner Bros. might have originally intended to give Batman V Superman's Ultimate Edition its own theatrical release.

Though the footage has been taken off YouTube, reports from several sites including Screen Rant reveal that the IMAX version of the nightmare sequence of the Batman V Superman Ultimate Edition had actually been leaked online.

Though the clip doesn't present anything new to fans who've already seen the Ultimate Edition, the existence of an IMAX cut for the R-rated version of Batman v Superman indicates that Warner Bros, might have planned to release the Ultimate Edition in cinemas.

It's likely the studio had planned to release the Ultimate Edition on the big screen a while after the theatrical cut finished its initial run – after all, word that an R-rated cut of BvS had been classified ong before the theatrical debut of the film. The only question now is the reason why it was never released. Was it because of the film's divisiveness?

Warner Bros. hasn't issued any comment, but we'll keep our eyes peeled.
