Though video game movies barely come out great, there's no stopping Hollywood from adapting big properties, one of which is Sonic the Hedgehog. Deadpool director Tim Miller is producing an animated Sonic movie, and the film finally has a solid release date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has set the release for Sonic the Hedgehog on Nov. 15, 2019; that would make the film go against Wonder Woman 2 and Bond 25 when it hits the box office. There's also an animated Mrs. Claus movie, but nobody's really worried about that.

Though Sonic had already been adapted into several TV series over the years, this will be the first time for the character to be in the center of a feature-length film. We don't know if it will have ties to the ongoing Sonic Boom series, but seeing as the show has been going on for a while, the movie might want to tap in on its already existing fanbase.

Sonic has been a figure in pop-culture since 1991, and even people who don't play the game know who the character is. Let's just hope that Miller produces a film that actually has some heart as compared to the cash grab that was Minions.

It's funny how Tim Miller quit the Deadpool sequel, and Ryan Reynolds still ended up getting cast in a movie about a beloved video game character—he's providing the voice for the lead Pikachu in Detective Pikachu.

Sonic the Hedgehog comes out Nov. 15, 2019.
