The Lord of the Rings’ Eowyn Could’ve Been a Different Actress

The Lord of the Rings has recently celebrated more than 15 years since the first movie's release, with some of the original gang from the Nine gathering for some rounds and a troll cave expedition.

In keeping with the memories of the franchise, Uma Thurman was recently interviewed by Stephen Colbert in The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to bring up a pretty surprising fact: she had actually passed up a role in the franchise.

Describing the incident as one of the worst decisions she has ever made, Thurman revealed what happened, from the time she was offered to what she had done. Thurman had been offered the role of Eowyn, the daughter of Eomund and a noblewoman and lady warrior of Rohan. However, she had to turn it down.

"It was a very long time ago and I do consider it one of the worst decisions ever made, but I just had my first child and I was a little housebound."

She shared that she didn't want to bring her baby to New Zealand, since it was three years' worth of a shoot for the movie. This is understandable for Thurman, but at least she did land the lead role of The Bride in Kill Bill.

Perhaps this was all for the best, since Miranda Otto was pretty good as Eowyn.
