Sylvester Stallone Being Considered For Mark Miller’s Guardians of the Galaxy-Esque Comic Adaptation

It looks like Sylvester Stallone's work as Stakar in Guardians of the GalaxyVol. 2 is really getting him places in the comicbook superhero universe because Twentieth Century Fox is now reportedly eyeing the legendary action star for the lead role in a film adaptation of Starlight by Mark Miller.

It's been quite a while since Stallone's been in a superhero movie after the 1995 Judge Dredd was panned by fans and critics who hated its tacky delivery and presentation, however according to Splash Report, the action star is currently the top pick for Starlight.

The cosmic science fiction comic of Wanted and Kick-Ass creator Mark Miller is one that tells the story of Duke McQueen, a retired space superhero who finds himself called back to action for another adventure. The screenplay of the live-action Starlight film is apparently being written by Gary Whitta, the same screen writer who worked on the well-received Star Wars spinoff, Rogue One.

Starlight which has been described as a Buck Rogers homage, has been compared to Guardians of the Galaxy. Stallone made a cameo as Stakar in the film's sequel, and it seems like the action star's short appearance is really catching attention with 20th Century Fox wanting him for Starlight and Marvel director James Gunn saying he has a bigger role to play in the Marvel Cosmic Universe.

Fans can catch Stallone's cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when it hyperjumps to cinemas on May 5.
