Chris Pratt Wants To Extend His Time With Marvel “Whether They Like It Or Not”

It's easy to see how Chris Pratt became a favorite among Marvel fans after breaking out into the MCU in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Charming and delightfully comical, the Parks and Recreation star naturally had the humor and the skill to help bring the Marvel film to life while playing the role of cosmic play boy and smuggler, Star Lord.

Though Gunn did reveal that Marvel would be getting a new team of Guardians after Guardians of the Galaxy 3, it seems like Pratt is planning to extend his stay in Marvel and go beyond the third Guardians movie and the two Avengers: Infinity War films.

Speaking with Splash Film about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Pratt was asked what his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe currently looked like. Though the Hollywood star didn't confirm exactly when his Marvel contract would end, he does explicitly express intentions of staying on with the studio "whether they like it or not."

"I'll tell you, as much as I love Marvel, it doesn't matter how many I have contracted, because I'm going to continue to work with them.

I want to – I love working with them. I'm going to continue to work with them whether they like it or not. Even if they write me out, I'm going to show up on set and be like, ‘Hey, man!' They're done. They don't get to shake me."

Though Marvel has not announced its plans for Star Lord outside of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and the Avengers: Infinity War films, it is pretty assuring to hear Pratt hoping to stay on with the studio. Pratt hasn't had enough of Marvel just yet, and if he had his way, Star Lord would probably be sticking around in Phase 4 of the MCU.

Pratt will reprise his role as Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which premieres on May 5, 2017.
