Superman Comic Makes Sly Movie Reference to Henry Cavill

Brian Michael Bendis continues to be one of the most polarizing writers in the comic book industry and that hasn't changed since moving to DC Comics. His run on both Superman and Action Comics have gotten both positive and negative reviews but you can't deny that what he has done is interesting. As we all prepare for Leviathan, Bendis has added a moment of levity that seems like an intentional reference to Henry Cavill's time as Superman.

In Action Comics #1009, Superman needs to gather some information as his alter ego and we aren't talking about Clark Kent. With the help of some Kryptonian technology, Superman gains a beard and curly hair as he assumes his identity known as Chaz Donen. Apparently, Chaz is also British, which makes the Cavill comparison even stronger.

As fans are well aware, Bendis is pretty media savvy so this was likely intentional. During his run on Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Ghanke used the codename "Ned" since Spider-Man: Homecoming used the character but made him Ned Leeds instead, for some baffling reason. He also penned an Ultimate Spider-Man arc where Sam Raimi used footage of Spidey and Doctor Octopus battling for his own Spider-Man movie, which is as meta as it gets.
