Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's Daisy Ridley Teases Dark Rey Role In Episode IX

People are still debating on whether Dark Rey is real or not in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. But if you are skeptical about the mysterious alter ego actually being in the film, Daisy Ridley is here to set you straight. The Chaos Walking star has just confirmed that Dark Rey is in Episode IX and that she enjoyed playing the character.

Ridley recently spoke to AdoroCinema about The Rise of Skywalker and the Ophelia actress was surprisingly casual about the whole Dark Rey thing. Ridley admitted that the character was somehow a challenge because of the weapon she wields but she also loved taking on the role.

"It's fun to play someone's best version, and then the worst. It's an amazing thing to do as an actress, but we can't do it often," she said, adding that she "felt very good."

But if you're hoping to get more details on who Dark Rey truly is (was she a vision, a clone, or maybe even the real Rey turning to the Dark Side?), Ridley isn't sharing any more secrets just yet. "That's the most I can say, unfortunately," she said.

Dark Rey was first introduced in the Rise of Skywalker special footage shared at the D23 Expo. The character's look and strange weapon immediately led to fan theories about what could truly happen in Episode IX. For now, we'll have to wait until December to find out for sure.

The synopsis for The Rise of Skywalker reads as follows:

"The surviving Resistance faces the First Order once more as Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron's journey continues. With the power and knowledge of generations behind them, the final battle commences."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20.
