Star Wars: The Last Jedi Hints At The Disturbing Truth Behind Porgs’ Real Purpose

Porgs might be Star Wars newest cute overlords with their flappy wings and puppy-dog eyes, however new details about these wide-eyed Ahch-To residents give away a few shocking hints about the planet Luke's (Mark Hamill) been hiding himself away in.

"Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and its reference book Star Wars Made Easy: A Beginner's Guide to A Galaxy Far, Far Away has just given away a few details about the creatures on Ahch-To.

Though the Porgs became a controversial hit amongst fans after appearing in The Last Jedi's behind-the-scenes video released during this year's D23, these overly inquisitive little creatures might actually serve as chowder meat on Ahch-To.

A description of Lucasfilm's cute new merchandising-machines in one of the book's sections, "Luke's Island Highlights" details the porgs alternate purpose.

"Small, bird-like porgs are the island's most adorable inhabitants. Cute? Definitely. Tasty? Maybe…"

Porgs don't really come off as food, but another image taken from a coloring book of Star Wars: The Last Jedi which was posted by a fan on Reddit actually seems to show the caretakers hunting the porgs.

Could Porgs really be made into some sort of treat in The Last Jedi? Dark as it may seem, it gives a practical twist to the wide-eyed balls of fur that everyone's been criticizing as Lucasfilm's new merchandise machine.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas December 15, 2017.
