Andy Serkis Had Fake Facial Hair Playing Snoke In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

There might be a lot of mystery surrounding the First Order's Supreme Leader Snoke, however, it seems like new details regarding the sequel trilogy's enigmatic villain continue to surface as Star Wars: The Last Jedi slowly approaches its release date.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote a piece on the upcoming release of Breathe, and in the article, Andrew Garfield revealed how his director, Andy Serkis, would put on fake facial hair while juggling between the biographical drama and his role as Snoke in the upcoming Star Wars sequel trilogy installment, The Last Jedi.

Breathe was in pre-production while Lucasfilm was doing principal photography for The Last Jedi, and Garfield recalled one moment where Serkis joined Garfield and his co-star Claire Foy after taking a break from filming The Force Awkens sequel wearing his motion-capture garb and fake facial hair along with it.

"It was a really difficult discussion, and Andy tried to take part as our director, and we couldn't take it seriously! I think he's more used to wearing that outfit than regular clothes."

It's an amusing anecdote that adds on to previous images of Snoke which showed off some light facial hair on the wrinkled First Order leader. Sure, it doesn't really reveal anything substantial about Snoke's character and his origin, but it does add color to his image.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres December 15, 2017.
