Star Wars Episode IX: Rian Johnson Wasn’t Involved With The Script

Rian Johnson is the director for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and he himself has also contributed to the script of the movie. Colin Trevorrow will direct and write Star Wars Episode IX, but as it turns out, he didn't get any help from Johnson at all.

A fan had asked Johnson on Twitter about this, and he said:

Granted, both directors probably have a general idea of how each of their films is going to go, and seeing as to how careful Lucasfilm is with delivering good Star Wars movies, Trevorrow probably has someone from the story group overlooking his project.

As for co-writers, Trevorrow has actually brought in Derek Connolly who helped him work on Jurassic World. Connolly had also worked with Trevorrow in his indie film, Safety Not Guaranteed, and he also did work for last month's Kong: Skull Island.

For now, I don't see much need in worrying for Episode IX because we still have The Last Jedi to look forward to. Trevorrow has a lot of time to perfect his script and make sure this sequel trilogy ends with a bang.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out on Dec. 15, but Star Wars Episode IX is set for a release on May 24, 2019.
