Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is Different Because of This One Thing

If there was one thing that pretty much stopped Star Wars Battlefront from being the game that EA should have delivered, it was definitely the lack of a single-player campaign.

Even though EA and DICE have already dealt with this, there is still one more thing that would pretty much define the sequel. In an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, DICE's Creative Director Bernd Diemer shared that of the things that they had wanted to ensure that they fill in that missing gap in Star Wars Battlefront was very simply depth.

"There are things we need to improve and we want to build on, but the main thing we wanted to add was depth. Give more reasons to stick around, try out different heroes, try out different trooper types, and that's why we introduced classes. There's a little more variety in the team-play, not everybody is the same, and you can now form your own squad if that is your thing."

We can easily see this working hand-in-hand with the addition of the narrative campaign, which EA is very confident that it has nailed. We can't really argue, since the idea of being put in the shoes of the Empire instead of the usual heroes is something interesting.

There's the additional benefit for fans who want to see an expanded Star Wars lore—because when you operate as the Empire, you're operating with the mindset that you are in the right. We'd love to see where EA and DICE will take this narrative.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be out on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on Nov. 17.
