Star Trek: Discovery First Image Looks Eerily Similar To Rey’s Costume From Star Wars

Star Trek: Discovery may not have had the smoothest production, but it looks like everything is coming together and we now have out first image of cast members Michelle Yeoh and Sonequa Martin-Green.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Yeoh will be playing Captain Philippa Heorgiou and Martin-Green is First Officer Michael Burnham. I had to double-take when I read that Martin-Green's character was named Michael, but I'm pretty sure the show will explain everything.

Seeing that Discovery will be a prequel to the Original Series, fans have spotted Officer Burnham to be wearing an old-school communicator on her belt as well as a tricorder — something that Spock has been known to carry around in the original series.

I also can't help but mention that the costumes look very similar to Rey's garb from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If you'd ask me, I'd say they were on Jakku right now. You'd think that the choice to have it done was deliberate, but you can spot the goggles/turban combo in any movie with a desert.

Star Trek: Discovery looks to have a promising cast with Jason Isaacs, Anthony Rapp, and Doug Jones. Even Spock's father Sarek is making an appearance in the series, played by Gotham's James Frain.

No official release date has been announced, but hopefully Star Trek: Discovery arrives this fall.
