Shazam! Producer Supports James Gunn Saying Marvel And DC Rivalry Is ‘Bullsh*t’

The Marvel and DC rivalry may have lasted for decades, but as fans continue to argue about which side of the fence has better heroes and better films, the directors and actors behind both studios continue to lift one another up. Shazam! director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran have nothing but love and support for James Gunn, the newly reinstated director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Speaking in an interview with Uproxx, Safran shares his thoughts about the most recent news surrounding Gunn as well as the ongoing DC and Marvel rivalry.

"I've always believed, that which unites comic book fans is much greater than that which divides us. And so the whole Marvel, DC rivalry thing is kind of bullshit," Safran told the publication, "Because really we're all fans of the same thing. I love the fact that he's directed a movie for Marvel and directed a movie for DC. And the Earth is not spinning off its axis. It's ok."

Right now, many believe that Gunn is going to unite both DC and Marvel together. Before he was brought back into Marvel's fold, Gunn had been hired to direct the DC Extended Universe's Suicide Squad 2. Now, the director is going to work on both the Suicide Squad sequel and on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

It might seem a bit tiring, but Marvel is patient enough to wait for Gunn to complete his work for the DCEU before he begins completing the third and final film of the Guardians franchise.

How about you? What do you think of the DC and Marvel rivalry? Do you think Gunn will help put an end to all the fighting?
