Shazam is in DCEU But Has Unique and Creative Treatment

The other DC movies that will be part of the DCEU cinematic lineup seem to be gearing up despite lukewarm to very cold reviews of previous movies.

And Shazam! sees to be one of those that aims to deliver a different side while maintaining its feet firmly on the DC extended universe platform. Shazam! is already included in the lineup as a 2019 movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Speaking to Newsweek, Dany Garcia, who is Johnson's producing partner and manager, confirmed that the two of them will be very much involved and have sizable autonomy in the movie. Hence the lack of worries when it comes to what happened in the earlier films.

I guess it should also be said that Shazam! will be produced via Seven Bucks Productions and New Line Cinema, so I will not be directly under Warner Bros. this means different teams working in the production, despite the fact that Shazam! will exist in the DCEU.

"We don't feel fettered by, or constrained by, the successes or failures and challenges of the other projects. That was a key component to our participation—that we be able to control the tone and the voice, and do it the way we want to."

As far as how ingrained Shazam! will be with the other superhero movies, Garcia described it to be "of the world" but will not be entirely be alike it, as there will be a different culture and flavor to the film.

What we can be reassured of is the fact that Garcia and the rest of the people behind Shazam! are doing careful reviews of scripts and tones to ensure that they get Black Adam right, no rush.

Shazam! is scheduled for theaters in 2019 following a slew of other DC comics movies like Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, and The Flash.
