Rian Johnson Won’t Reveal Finn’s Potential Force Sensitivity In The Last Jedi

While a lot of viewers were surprised by how strong Rey (Daisy Ridley) was with the Force, others were wondering whether Finn (John Boyega) also had some sort of Force sensitivity after seeing him try to fight against Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) with a lightsaber in The Force Awakens.

Speaking in an interview with Vanity Fair for its 40thStar Wars anniversary issue, The Last Jedi director decides to open up about things that fan's aren't going to see in the second film installment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. One of those includes "a revelation about Finn's potential Force sensitivity."

However, while the director would like to hold off making any revelation regarding Finn's potential connection with the Force, Boyega would like to think that there might be more hope.

"But you never know," the actor says. "I talk to Mark Hamill sometimes and he tells me stories about how he wasn't told about the ‘Darth Vader is his father' situation until he got on set. I feel like there must be something going on, something that makes me go, ‘Huh, why does he wield one, and what's that all about?' It'll be interesting to see if that's ever explored."

For now fans will have to settle with Finn running around doing missions for The Resistance with Kelly Marie Tran's Rose Tico. Maybe we'll get to see a Force sensitive Finn in the final film for the sequel trilogy.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres on Dec. 15, 2017.
