Pokemon Sun and Moon Ban Hammer Comes Down on over 7,000 Players

Any game with a sizable fan base and multiplayer modes will surely have one thing: cheaters. It's almost a way of life for some players, and a pain for those who just want to have good, clean fun.

Pokemon Sun and Moon saw the same with a handful of players, as The Pokemon Company announced its ban for 7,651 players. According to trusted Pokemon source Serebii, the ban was doled out due to altered save data.

Banned players will not be able participate in online activity afterwards. This includes using Game Sync, as well as participating in Rating Battles, Battle Competitions, and in Global Missions. Pokemon Sun and Moon players can confirm this if they receive the error message 090-0212.

This is a shame, given that the developer has also just announced a flurry of Competitions and Global Missions. There's a Global Mission that is all about hatching Eggs running until April 10. A Battle Competition dubbed the 2017 International Challenge April competition running from April 28 to 30. And there's even the Global Link Gift, given to those who qualify in the Kanto X Alola Regional Rumble Competition.

Lesson learned: it's better to grind and persevere than to use cheats to get ahead of the game. Cheaters will always find themselves at the mercy of the ban hammer, especially now that The Pokemon Company has been vigilant about restrictions since January.
