Pokemon Sun and Moon Adds 'Z Ring' Bracelet Extension

Pokemon: Sun and Moon is adding a bracelet extension called a "Z Ring", according to their official website. The Z-Ring is being produced by the Japanese toymaker Takara Tomy and it will be released internationally along with the Sun and Moon game. These bracelets are meant to be used in conjunction with the new "Z Move" feature in the game.

Z Moves, seen in the latest Sun and Moon trailer, are super powerful moves that can only be used once per battle. They are triggered by the player characters doing a dance and unleash all the Pokemon's power. As the official website puts it "When the trainer and Pokemon's wishes resonate with each other and both unleash their full power, the result is the explosive force of a Z move!"

Both Z-rings and Z crystals are apparently needed for Z moves. Z Crystals are set into the Z ring and the player needs to have the same variety of Z crystals that their Pokemon is holding to perform the move. The Pokemon also needs to learn a move that corresponds with the crystal it is holding. The Z rings will light up, vibrate and play sounds that go with the in-game sounds when Z moves are used.

The website promises that more details about the Z rings will come from Tomy International. You can see the advertisements from Tomy below:
