Pokemon Sun and Moon New Trailer Reveals Alola Forms, Z-Moves and New ‘Mons

The Alola Region of Pokemon Sun and Moon may be holding more secrets than previously thought.

The Pokemon Company has released a new video showcasing not just a few more Pokemon, but also the Z-Moves and Island Trials. According to the video, there are certain Pokemon that are thriving in the Alola region.

The Exeggutor, a Grass/Dragon Pokemon, looks like an animal with a long neck. It’s like a cross between a dinosaur and a coconut tree. I kid you not—there are three faces, which look like the coconuts, its hair look like the leaves, is neck is the trunk, and even the tail looks like a sprouted small coconut tree.

Vulpix and Sandshrew are Ice Types for the Alola region. Ninetales also has a very elegant form, and that attack is no different.

The island also has more Pokemon. to be discovered. The Oricoro Pokemon is a bird-like mon that comes with a four different styles: the Baile Style (Fire/Fying), Pom-Pom Style (Electric/Flying), Pa’u Style (Psychic/Flying), and Sens Style (Ghost/Flying). All of them look like some form of dances, and each island has a different style. Its dance moves are wicked though, as they can copy everyone’s dance moves. Other Pokemon revealed include the Minior, Gumshoos, Fomantis, and Mudbray.

The video also shows Z-Moves, which are very powerful attacks that can be used once in every battle. A Z-Move can be used when a Pokemon is holding an identical stone to the Z-Stone of the trainer’s Z-Ring. This may be an adaptation of Mega Evolution stones.

There’s even such a thing as Ride Pokemon which trainers can use to presumably travel throughout the region. One such example is using Charizard for flight and Mudbray to get through the miles.

The four Trial Captains have been introduced as well. There’s Mallow, who specializes in Grass type, Lana for water type, Sophocles for electric type and Kiawe for fire type. Check out the full video for more gameplay footage.

I must say, not only are the designs for Pokemon Sun and Moon becoming more radical, but you can feel the diversity of the ‘mons as well. The Oricoro birds alone hint at a grass skirt dancer, a Flamenco-looking dancer, a cheerleader, and what appears to be an Asian traditional fan dancer. It’s quite a nice touch.

Pokemon Sun and Moon will be out on the Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 18.
