Nintendo Announces Super Smash Bros. For Switch, Confirmed For 2018

After numerous rumors and reports, Nintendo has officially confirmed that Super Smash Bros. is officially coming to the Switch and it will be out this year. The announcement came at the tail end of the company's most recent Nintendo Direct, which showcased new ports and games for the system. It almost seemed like a disappointment, until the final video was shown.

Fans were caught off guard at first when the Inklings from Splatoon were shown shooting at each other. Viewers had just seen the first paid DLC for Splatoon 2, which adds a new single-player campaign to the game. However, when things turned dark and the female Inkling turned around, the truth was revealed; these characters will be joining the latest Smash game.

Most of the game's roster is unknown, though favorites like Mario and Link from the Legend of Zelda were shown, albeit in a dark yet somewhat silly manner. The Zelda protagonist will be in his Breath of The Wild garb, which fans of the game will appreciate. Here's hoping Cappy from Super Mario Odyssey becomes a part of Mario's move-set.

The new Super Smash Bros. will be coming to the Switch sometime this year.
