Netflix Cancels Iron Fist, Season 3 Knocked Off Table

Finn Jones' Iron Fist might be Marvel TV fans' least favorite New York hero, however, over the seasons the Iron Fist series' ratings have improved. Despite the noticeable improvement in the quality of the show, it looks like Netflix has decided to pull the plug on the show, saying that the series will no longer receive a third season from the streaming platform.

Issuing a joint statement together with Disney on Deadline, Netflix thanks fans for their loyalty to Danny Rand, promising everyone that while the series has been canceled, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on in the Marvel TV franchise.

"Marvel's Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix," the statement reads. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew, and showrunners ... We're thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership, we've shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on."

The news came as quite a surprise to the cast of Iron Fist. According to the report, sources say that the team only heard about the cancellation today, a little over a month since the second season of the series premiered on Netflix.

Last month, Marvel Television President Jeph Loeb used to talk about the potential of a third season for Iron Fist. During the time, the Marvel Television head sounded optimistic about the show's future. Now, it seems like that future's been cut by Netflix, for reasons we have to yet know.

Such a shame things had to end this way for Danny Rand. Hopefully, we'll still get to see him around in other Marvel Netflix TV shows like Daredevil or Luke Cage.
