Marvel’s Inhumans Black Bolt Has a Unique Way of Communicating

The Royal Family didn't exactly receive the best welcome when their real-life looks were first teased for Marvel's Inhumans.

And while the gist of the story's impending rebellion (based on the first teaser trailer) seems far more interesting, at least it seems like the TV series will give us a glimpse of an innovative way by which the great King and leader of the family, Black Bolt, will communicate with the others.

In a scoop from Entertainment Weekly, actor Anson Mount revealed that the mute king won't be using a familiar form of communication, but rather one that is more innovative—so it's going to be more realistic.

"I actually have to do more preparation when it comes to scenes in which I sign, and I can't use American Sign Language. Because he's not from Earth, he wouldn't know American Sign Language, so I'm making my own sign system. [Black Bolt] is a leader who is actually forced to understand not just the strength of his voice, but the potential catastrophe of his voice. He literally has to meditate an hour every night before going to bed so he doesn't talk in his sleep."

Combining everything we know about the Inhumans, it's possible that the muteness of the Attilan king will be an issue. At least it may be with his brother Maximus, played by Iwan Rheon. How exactly Medusa and the other Inhumans will see this particular quirk, we'll have to see.

Marvel's Inhumans will premiere in IMAX theaters on Sept. 1. It will run for eight episodes on ABC from Sept. 26.

Synopsis:
After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.
