Mark Millar Announces Hit Girl Ongoing Comic, Kevin Smith Will Write The Second Arc

Not long after announcing the new Kick-Ass comic, Mark Millar has announced that there will be a Hit-Girl ongoing series. Unlike Kick-Ass, which has an entirely new protagonist at the helm, the Hit-Girl comic will feature the same character fans know and love. It is also a direct sequel to Kick-Ass 3, as the pint-sized murderer has plans to unleash her unique form of justice to the rest of the world, leaving America in the process.

Millar told Comic Book that the first issue of Hit-Girl takes place right after the last page of Kick-Ass 3, so there's some continuity there. Unlike the new Kick-Ass, which will be a more down-to-earth comic, Millar plans on going crazy with Hit-Girl, calling her a mini Frank Castle that can't be stopped. The acclaimed writer will be joined by artist Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, who will be illustrating the first arc.

Kevin Smith will be writing the second arc of the series. Millar confirmed that each arc will have a new big-name creative team, so that the series will remain unpredictable, despite being an ongoing comic. The writer has confirmed the following names who will be making arcs for the character: Frank Quitely, Rafael Albuquerque, Pete Milligan, Eduardo Risso, Daniel Way, and Kim Jung Gi.

Hit-Girl #1 will be coming out on February 21, 2018.
