Margot Robbie on Harley Quinn’s Relationship with The Joker & the Psychiatrist “Manipulating” People in Suicide Squad

Most of the Suicide Squad trailers we've seen so far have featured a lot of scenes with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in them, making her performance one of the most highly anticipated in the film. Another awaited appearance in the DC movie is Jared Leto's The Joker, who fittingly has a history with Quinn.

In an interview with LATimes at CinemaCon, Robbie explained her character's relationship with the The Joker, as well as Harley Quinn's interesting role in the movie.

Robbie told the LA Times of Quinn and The Joker:

It's an incredibly dysfunctional relationship. She's mad about him -- like, literally, mad. She's crazy. But she loves him. And it's a really unhealthy, dysfunctional relationship. But an addictive one.

As for how Quinn will be played out in the film, Robbie said:

She's definitely one of the more unpredictable members of the squad. She also used to be a psychiatrist so she has an extensive knowledge of mental illnesses and how to manipulate people -- I'm sorry, well, she has a lot of knowledge on how to profile people, pick their triggers, and as Harley Quinn she kind of utilizes that to just manipulate people and mess with them.
And she definitely does that with the squad. She's always picking someone to be dissecting and playing off and messing with.

Harley Quinn seems like the perfect match of The Joker. Their romance might be dysfunctional, but it would definitely be interesting to see how they relate to each other in Suicide Squad.

While Robbie's character seems a bit too dark, the movie looks otherwise from the trailers, which veers a bit more heavily on the light side with pop tunes and humorous lines thrown here and there.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5.
