Margot Robbie: Harley Quinn is NOT a Member of the Birds of Prey

Margot Robbie is set to reprise the role of Harley Quinn in next year's Birds of Prey, but the interesting this is, Harley won't actually be a member of the team at all.

Talking during a panel at CinemaCon 2019 (via @HarleyMovieNews), Robbie herself confirmed that Harley will be her own thing, and that the Birds might actually just consist of Huntress, Black Canary, and Det. Renee Montoya. It's likely that Harley will have more of a ‘guest star' role in the team—but that doesn't make her any less of the main character.

Some speculate that this exclusion from the Birds actually means that Harley is being geared up to be a member of the Gotham City Sirens. Though it was said that Suicide Squad director David Ayer was working on GCS, it seems that the film has now been put on the backburner. Either way, who says that Harley can't be part of multiple teams? I mean, she's already one of the leads in Suicide Squad, and it's said that she'll be brought back for the sequel directed by James Gunn.

CinemaCon was said to have debuted some footage for Birds of Prey, but I'm not expecting any of that to be revealed anytime soon. For now, DC looks to be peddling Shazam!, and after that, the Joker spinoff film. My guess is that the trailer for BoP will release sometime in July, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Catch Birds of Prey in cinemas Feb. 7, 2020.
