The trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix teased a whole lot of dark and heavy moments of the X-Men franchise, one of which included a funeral indicating the death of a major mutant character.

While fans have posted all sorts of theories and speculation online about who exactly would end up going six feet under in the new X-Men movie, one news outlet claims to know who's going to die in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

We Got This Covered has the newest scoop on Dark Phoenix and according to the entertainment news outlet, it's Jennifer Lawrence's shape-shifting Mystique that's going to end up kicking the bucket in the film. Mystique was given a major role in the franchise ever since Lawrence's popularity soared thanks to her portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games movie. Now, after taking up space in so many X-Men movies, it looks like Fox might have decided to put an end to Mystique – a prevalent fan theory that's been going on about the mystery death.

While fans ought to be reminded to take the report with a grain of salt knowing that the information remains unconfirmed, it wouldn't come as a surprise to see Mystique dying in Dark Phoenix.

Lawrence has long since been hinting at her hopes of leaving the X-Men franchise ever since the release of X-Men: Days of Future pas back in 2014 and we'd understand if the actress finally put down her foot about the entire scenario.
