King Kong is Coming to TV

King Kong has been a creature of so much fascination, there has already been eight movies so far and even a crossover with Godzilla title planned for 2020. Now, fans can look forward to more as the Kong Universe touches down on TV with its own live-action TV program.

According to Deadline, the planned TV series will be from MarVista Entertainment and IM Global Television. Given that, this particular King Kong TV series won't be under Warner Bros like the most recent movie.

To date, there are no details yet as to what the series will be about, but two names have already tagged to the series as scriptwriters: Jonathan Penner and Stacy Title, the tandem behind The Bye Bye Man.

There is talk that the series will be a contemporary continuation of a female-led multicultural group that explores the Skull Island. According to the execs of MarVista Entertainment and IM Global TV, this will be a wild ride, with a world that puts women at the forefront as explorers.

"We love Stacy and Jonathan's approach to this adaptation and look forward to partnering with MarVista as we bring this gripping tale of survival and adventure to life for a new generation of Kong fans."

This is a pretty great approach, as Kong: Skull Island has already tried to overturn the notion of a damsel-in-distress blondie on its head. Perhaps, this TV series will also set a first for the Kong franchise.
