J.J. Abrams has Already Met with Warner Bros About Superman

The DCEU is steadily getting back on its feet after the fiasco that was Justice League, and though we have a lot of other films confirmed down the pipeline, we still have no update on the next Superman movie. As it turns out, the studio has already met with J.J. Abrams about getting the film off the ground.

In a report from Variety updating us on the current state of the DCEU, it's been said that "there have been discussions with J.J. Abrams" to "make Superman relevant to modern audiences." We don't get any further details on these meetings, but at least we know that Warner Bros. wants Abrams to be involved somehow.

Back in the early 2000s, it was said that Abrams was working on his treatment for the Man of Steel called Superman Flyby. The movie never happened, but with the franchise now stagnant, it's the perfect time for someone like Abrams to swoop in and do his take on the character.

For now, everyone is hoping that Abrams makes use of Henry Cavill's Superman. Cavill himself has confirmed that the "cape is still in his closet" and it's just a matter of WB tapping him for the next Superman film. Hopefully, Abrams will be listening to the fans, and give Cavill his due, because, after Man of Steel, we still need to catch Cavill in a movie where his Superman really shines.

We don't know what the current state of the next Superman movie is, but you can catch Abrams' next film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in theaters Dec. 20.
