It's Doomsday For Metropolis in DC's The Death of Superman Trailer

Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for The Death of Superman, DC's latest animated film that will be coming out in Summer 2018. This is actually the second time we'll be seeing this storyline adapted in animation after Superman Doomsday, though this will be set in the established animated universe DC started with Justice League War.

As the trailer from IGN shows, this is going to be an action-packed film and will even feature the Justice League in action against the monster. It's the same group from War, so those that have been following these films will appreciate the continuity in place.

From what can be seen thus far it seems like a pretty faithful adaptation of the source material, just with a different Justice League taking on Doomsday. Still, the result seems to be the same, with Doomsday beating them up and only Superman being able to stop the monster from causing any more harm.

The Death of Superman is Coming to Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on summer 2018. The cast is led by Jerry O'Connell, Rebecca Romijn and Rainn Wilson as the voices of Superman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor, respectively. Sam Liu co-directs with Jake Castorena. Follow-ups to the film are expected, detailing the fallout and eventual return of the hero, just like in the comics.
