Injustice 2 May Have a Surprise Set of Characters

NetherRealm Studios hit the jackpot with Injustice 2--if only because the first game was a success in its own right. Now that we've seen yet another teaser trailer with rather seamless gameplay footage, it appears that Injustice 2 will be on a roll once it's out for players to enjoy.

But even before the main game finds its way to platforms, the developer is already hinting at possible plans for future content. Speaking with GameRant, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon touched on the previous suggestion he made to fans: will we see Watchmen characters in Injustice 2?

"It's not outside the realm of possibility at all. Unfortunately, there are still so many cool characters that we haven't done that we'll be getting a few of them done with DLC which will be cool. But inevitably someone is going to not make the cut."

Considering the current crossover in the comics, this isn't really an impossible situation. After all, the original Injustice: Gods Among Us has already done a crossover with the Mortal Kombat franchise before. Putting Watchmen as a possible additional roster fighters would definitely bring up the hype--and even expand the fan base.

Here's to hoping that any Watchmen crossovers will also make to the Injustice 2 mobile game tie-in as well. Injustice 2 lands on the PS4 and Xbox One.
