Here’s Why That Pokemon Game May be Worth Getting on the Nintendo Switch

When the Nintendo Switch was first announced, it was easy to picture the gaming company continuing the tradition of Pokemon games on its new console.

Indeed, rumors have since then been swirling. Following the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, previous reports have pointed to a Pokemon Stars title that may come out on the Nintendo Switch.

The latest rumor that seems to hark back to this idea comes from video game journalist Lura Dale in a Reddit AMA (spotted by Comicbook.com's WWG). In the AMA, she revealed that, via her sources, she had found possible new monsters coming to the Nintendo Switch.

"So I talked to Tom Phillips a lot before he ran his Stars story, as I was also working on the same leak, via different sources… I have heard 20+ new monsters being saved for [Pokemon] Stars. Tom doesn't think that's likely. I honestly don't know if folks would be happy with that or not."

The only issue that the game journalist has with the possibility is that the new monsters coming only to the Nintendo Switch may pose as a problem to long-time players of the franchise. The Nintendo Switch is a brand-new console by itself, and one that's not even an extension of either the Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS.

As such, this would mean that fans would have to buy the console to play, especially if this new Pokemon game will have features unique to the console—or worse, that the game would be exclusive to the console itself.

Hopefully, we'll get a glimpse of the lineup readied for the Nintendo Switch. If it takes off, there's no question that the Pokemon will soon debut on the console. The next question would be whether or not the success would mean a slow migration, the same way that some are seeing for current-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One.
