HBO Releases Official Statement Following Game of Thrones' Starbucks Goof

A lot of fans weren't really pleased with how the Battle of Winterfell went down, and even more, complaints came out of the latest episode, The Last of the Starks. What's weird though, is only one thing seems to be catching more attention than anything else—a misplaced coffee cup.

Now tons of memes have come out online about the coffee cup spotted next to Daenerys, and HBO has come to release an official statement. Good news is, they have a sense of humor about it:

Even Starbucks is in on the joke as well. Their official Twitter account posted:

Apparently, the coffee cup was a mistake, and the show's executive producer Bernie Caulfield had talked to WNYC Radio to apologize for the goof. He at least wants to remain positive, and says, "Prop people and decorators are so, you know, so on it 1,000 percent… if that's the worst thing they're finding, then we're in good shape."

For now, there are only two episodes left for the season, and with the death of Missandei in the previous episode, we're looking at our list of main characters slowly getting depleted. The preview for the next episode seems to hint at the demise of Euron Greyjoy, but I wonder if the show is planning to save him for the final climax.

Catch the next episode of Game of Thrones 8 when it airs this Sunday night on HBO.
