Early Rogue One Script Originally Included Character From The Force Unleashed

The Star Wars video game lore has now all been put in the Legends category of the franchise, but the new stories of the universe still manage to induct certain characters in the canon like Grand Admiral Thrawn or Darth Bane. As it turns out, Rogue One almost had this Force Unleashed character appear—Rahm Kota.

Talking to the podcast La Fosa del Rancor, Marcos Cabota recalls a story of a friend who was auditioning for Rogue One, and the script that was given to them had a character of a blind Force-user named Rahm Kota.

Cabota explains:

"In fact, they were talking about a Jedi, who then did not appear in the movie but did appear somehow … Rham Kota was in Rogue One, I can tell you, he was a blind Jedi. And what do we find in Rogue One? A blind user of the Force … In the script we had from Rogue One, before becoming Rogue One, it was Rahm Kota."

Of course, the change in the character's name could have been a method to save any details of the script from leaking, but if EU character Saw Gerrera was able to make his way into the movies, why couldn't Rahm Kota?

In the game, Kota was able to survive the Jedi Purge because his mistrust for the clones led him to use his own private militia. He was blinded when he clashed with Vader's apprentice, Galen Marek; Kota was then a drifter for some time, but he found his way back into the war, and became one of the major players in the formation of the Rebel Alliance.

That is… until The Force Unleashed got debunked by Disney.

There's definitely still a lot of room for Kota to return, but for now, he just has to stay in Legends along with some other great characters. If the Lucasfilm story group wills it, Kota will eventually find his way back into canon.
