Dragon Ball: Here's Why Goku and Vegeta Are Able to Regain Their Power So Quickly

Over the years, many Dragon Ball fans have been wondering how Goku and Vegeta are able to regain their power after being knocked down and rise back with a power-up out of nowhere. While some may criticize these moments as Deux ex Machina, but according to the series creator Akira Toriyama, that's not the case.

Since Dragon Ball Super recently showed Goku and Vegeta getting back up several times after getting beat, especially in their battle against Universe 11 in the Tournament of Power, many fans are asking that question, but Toriyama has addressed this issue before during an interview with Animanga. The creator explained that the Saiyans are able to cope with their disparity because of their heritage.

"Saiyans rapidly increase in strength as they fight against strong opponents, so the longer they fought, the more that gap would shrink," Toriyama explained.

"It might even be possible for them to eventually turn the tables."

Toriyama's answer was a response to a question about how the Saiyan race would compete against Beerus, Universe 7's God of Destruction. However, the same principle can be applied to their fight against the overpowered Jiren. While they're still outmatched against the Universe 11 Pride Trooper, it looks like the Saiyans still have potential to go beyond their limits as Goku has shown before with his Ultra Instinct form. As previously hinted, Goku might be able to master his Ultra Instinct form before the series ends this March.

Dragon Ball Super is set to air on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami still airs the English dub of Dragon Ball Super on Adult Swim Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. It's also available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon.
