2023 is undeniably a pivotal year for James Gunn who is set to finish his near-decade tenure with Marvel Studios. Of course, you're all aware by now that the Guardians of the Galaxy director is shifting all of his focus and energy to building the rebooted DC Universe along with DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran, something many fans are already invested in.

One of the characters DC diehards can't wait to see in action is Booster Gold and even Gunn previously confirmed that the beloved superhero has topped the list of characters fans have been clamoring to see in the new DCU.

While it remains uncertain if Gunn will actually utilize the character in the near future, a potential candidate for the role has already entered the conversation and it's none other than GOTG star, Chris Pratt. For obvious reasons, the Star-Lord actor's comedic chops made him a logical contender for the role and if you've been following Gunn's career, it's no secret that he likes to cast actors he's worked with in the past.

Just recently, Pratt revealed that he'd actually consider playing the part, as long as Gunn thinks it suits him. Naturally, his statement gave fans renewed hope that he could in fact get cast as Michael Jon Carter in the DCU.

On Instagram, artist @clements.ink hopped on the bandwagon after learning about Pratt's interest and unveiled an art depicting him as Booster Gold. The end result is actually pretty decent and judging by the reactions it got, fans are pretty sold on the idea. Check it out here:

While I also believe that the Booster Gold role is tailor-made for an actor like Pratt, it's worth mentioning that he's already approaching his 40s. Logically speaking, Gunn and Safran should be eyeing younger actors who they can build the franchise around. That's not to say though that Chris doesn't have a place in the DCU because there are other characters he can play.

Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set for theatrical release on May 5th.
