Superman Legacy star David Corenswet could have played a significant role in the MCU’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3. However, if he got the role, he wouldn’t be part of the main cast for the upcoming Superman film.

David Corenswet is the newest cast member of James Gunn’s upcoming DCU entry, Superman, which will begin production later this year. The movie will be released on July 11, 2025, and we’ll see David Corenswet in theatre. Davis has been cast in popular titles like Pearl, The Politician, Hollywood, Twisters, Affairs of State, Look Both Ways, and The Greatest Hits.

In November 2023, @JacobFisherDF tweeted that David Corenswet was in the running for the role of Adam Warlock in MCU’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3. However, fate had other plans, and the role went to Will Poulter. This turned out to be a beneficial twist for David, as he was soon announced as the newest addition to the cast of Superman.

A fan @ech0es.act.3 asked James Gunn what his reaction was to David auditioning for the role of Adam Warlock, "I asked him about it, and he said he did, so I believe him, but I don’t remember it. And no, what we’re doing now for flying is much more complex than what was done for AW."

Fans are happy that David Corenswet didn’t get the MCU role because they believed the character wasn’t meant for him. David will replace Henry Cavill as the DCU’s Superman going forward.
